A study conducted on more than 1 lakh people has revealed a shocking fact that even those who exercise regularly and drink sweet drinks only twice a week have a 15% higher risk of heart diseases. On the other hand, the risk of heart disease has been seen to be 50% higher in those participants who drank sweet drinks twice a week and did not exercise.

Researchers say that if you consume too much sugar in any form, it can cause serious damage to health. It can be more harmful in liquid form. According to Dr. Lorena Pacheco, one should avoid consuming sugar-sweetened beverages as much as possible. This not only increases the risk of heart diseases but also diabetes, obesity and inflammation.

Professor Jeff Stanley, Medical Director at US Virta Health, says that high glucose levels and high insulin can lead to damage to blood vessels, diabetes and its complications.
