The hearing held on 29th April in Allahabad High Court in the case of Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor panel process, kept an eye on the people of AMU and the Aligarh community across the world.
Since morning everyone was curious to know about the decision taken after the hearing in the High Court. There was discussion in every department about what decision would be taken regarding the Vice-Chancellor panel, but as soon as information was received that the Justice involved in hearing the case had recused himself. Similarly, now the discussion has started on which justice will hear this case. In this case, Syed Afzal Murtaza Rizvi of Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi had filed a petition in the High Court against the Vice Chancellor panel of AMU. On the other hand, Prof. is included among the three names in the Vice Chancellor’s panel by the Ministry of Education. Naima Khatoon has been appointed Vice Chancellor.
One of the three included in the Vice Chancellor’s panel, Prof. The Justice recused himself from the hearing knowing Faizan Mustafa has supported justice. Due to knowing only one person, he abstained from the hearing, but in the Vice Chancellor’s panel process, his wife Prof. Despite Naima Khatoon being a candidate, along with presiding over the EC meeting, the acting Vice Chancellor in EC and Court, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez had also voted. The petition that was filed in the court is correct. There were irregularities in the Vice Chancellor panel process. It was against the rules to vote for the candidate’s wife and for the acting Vice-Chancellor to preside. The Justice recused himself from the hearing because he knew only one candidate, but the rules were ignored in the Vice-Chancellor panel process at AMU.
