A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla gave this order on the petition of Karnataka social activist S Vignesh Sishir. The petitioner has requested the CBI to investigate the matter. The petition was filed on the basis of the claim that Rahul Gandhi is a citizen of Britain rather than India. In such a situation, he was ineligible to contest elections under Article 84(A) of the Constitution.

The petitioner said that under the earlier order of the court, he had given two representations to the competent authority of the Union Home Ministry in the citizenship case of Rahul Gandhi. On this, the court had asked the Central Government’s lawyer whether the Center has received the petitioner’s representation? And what action or decision is proposed by the Center on these? On Monday, the Centre’s lawyer requested to be given time to present written information in the case. On which the court has fixed the next hearing of the case on October 24.
