Allahabad High Court canceled the death sentence awarded to a tonga driver for raping and murdering a two-year-old innocent girl due to faulty police investigation. The court said that due to lapses in investigation, the prosecution failed to link the last scene of the victim, the DNA report and the confessional statement as circumstantial evidence.

what is the matter
The matter is of Shikarpur police station area of Bulandshahr district. On July 10, 2020, the plaintiff had filed a case at Shikarpur police station regarding the disappearance of his two-year-old niece while playing near her house. After the missing person was registered, the police and family started searching for the girl. The help of sniffer dog was also taken. Meanwhile, two days later, the girl’s body was found floating in the pond behind the house of Prem Singh Prajapati of the same village. Rape was confirmed in the post-mortem. The girl was last seen going towards the pond with Prem Singh. Police arrested Prem Singh.
