Allahabad High Court has approved the dismissal of Umesh Kumar Sirohi, Additional District Judge of Lalitpur, accused of judicial misconduct. The Court has said that any misconduct committed by a judicial officer for his own benefit or for the benefit of his close relatives should always be dealt with seriously.
This order has been given by the division bench of Justice Soumitra Dayal Singh and Justice Donadi Ramesh. Umesh Kumar Sirohi, who was Additional District and Sessions Judge, had challenged the administrative order of his dismissal in the High Court. Sirohi, a 2001 batch civil judge, was promoted to the Higher Judicial Service in 2013. In the year 2016 and 2017, two chargesheets were issued against him by the administrative side of the High Court.
The first charge sheet, issued during his posting in Meerut, accused him of demanding dowry for the marriage of his civil judge brother and causing injury to his hand as part of a conspiracy to implicate his brother’s wife and her family. Whereas, in the second charge sheet, he had tried to influence an Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate in the proceedings of the case filed on behalf of his wife. He was also accused of making false allegations of bias against the then District Judge, Meerut.
