When was Kasar Devi Temple built?
This temple was built by the Birla family in 1948. There is also a Shiv temple built in the 1950s. According to the information, Swami Vivekananda came here in 1890. He meditated deeply in a secluded cave here. Apart from him, many seekers from western countries have also come here. This area is also known for the Crank Ridge. This area became very famous during the hippie movement of the 1980-90s. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Tibetan Buddhist guru Lama Anagarika Govinda, Western Buddhist teacher Robert Thuruman have also visited Kasar Devi temple. Celebrities like DS Lawrence, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, George Harris, Alfred Sorensen of Denmark have come here.
What is Van Allen Radiation Belt?
Let us tell you that Kasar Devi Temple is a very important place not only from religious and tourist point of view but also from scientific point of view. It is related to the magnetosphere present just outside the Earth. Due to the Earth’s magnetosphere, a large number of layers of charged particles filled with energy are formed. This is called Van Allen Radiation Belt. NASA research confirms that Earth’s geomagnetic field protects the atmosphere from destruction by blocking the solar wind and scattering energetic particles. This belt has been named after astronaut Jens Van Allen of Iowa University.
