Himachal Pradesh Crisis: DK Shivkumar, who has rescued Congress from trouble many times, has once rescued Congress from trouble. For the time being, the crisis has been averted from the Sukhu government in Himachal. Even though this crisis of Congress has been averted by the expulsion of BJP MLAs, the strategy behind it is believed to be that of DK Shivkumar.
It is being said that the result of DK’s strategy is that the party has rejected Vikramaditya Singh’s resignation and now his attitude has also softened. Earlier, when Congress MLAs did cross voting in Himachal Pradesh, it was believed that the state government was in trouble. On the other hand, BJP had announced to bring a no-confidence motion against the government.
Responsibility of convincing angry MLAs
In this difficult time, Congress put DK Shivkumar on the front. Along with him, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state in-charge Rajiv Shukla also got involved in saving the government. As soon as they reached Himachal, the three leaders started convincing the angry MLAs.
Vikramaditya Singh’s resignation rejected
Meanwhile, with the expulsion of BJP MLAs, he also got enough time to talk to the MLAs. On Wednesday evening, CM Sukhu rejected the resignation of Vikramaditya Singh and called him his younger brother. At the same time, Vikramaditya also announced that Sukhu government is safe in Himachal. In this way DK Shivkumar saved the Congress government in the state.
DK has become a trouble-shooter for Congress before also.
However, this is not the first time that DK Shivakumar has rescued Congress from such trouble. Earlier in 2018, when the party did not get majority in the Karnataka Assembly elections and BJP needed MLAs to form the government, even then he did not allow even a single Congress MLA to defect.
Apart from this, in 2017, when there was a tussle over a Rajya Sabha seat between Congress and BJP in the Rajya Sabha elections, the party had given the responsibility of siege of MLAs to DK Shivkumar.
