Hindi News How Is The Weather Predicted And What Work Is Being Done Regarding It

Cold wave is going on in many areas of the country. Due to which common people’s life is disrupted. At some places there is heavy snowfall and at some places people are in distress due to cold. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather condition is going to remain the same for the coming few days, but the question arises that how did the Meteorological Department come to know this information or how do they make predictions in every season. So let us know this today.

How is the weather predicted?
Usually, when someone hears news that somewhere rain is going to make the situation worse or cold wave is going to hit somewhere, then this question would definitely pop up in his mind that how does the Meteorological Department make predictions. Actually, at present the weather forecast in the country is done through satellite data and computer models. For this, IMD Inset series supercomputers are used.

To collect data in the computer, first of all the speed of clouds, their temperature and their density are studied. After which, through supercomputer, it is calculated as to when, how and where what type of weather will occur.

Through which supercomputers the estimation is being done in India?
India’s weather is currently being calculated through supercomputers named Pratyush and Mihir, launched in 2018. At the same time, to bring accuracy in weather forecasting, India needs more and more petaflop computers. At present, work on this is going on from the government side. The government had passed a budget of Rs 900 crore for these supercomputers in 2023. Which was also confirmed by Economy and Science Minister Kiran Rijiju.
