Holi 2024 Beauty Tips: Keep these things in mind before and after playing Holi, otherwise it may cause harm.

Holi is a festival which is mostly celebrated outside the home. In such a situation, taking care of skin and hair becomes very important. It becomes very important to do this before and after Holi. In this article we are going to tell you about care before and after Holi. So that there is no hindrance in your fun.

Care before Holi

1. Start with CTM

Don’t forget to follow your skincare routine even on the day of Holi. First thing in the morning, clean your face thoroughly. Clean your face with rose water or raw milk and then wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Be sure to apply toner on your face. This is a good option to remove remaining dirt and grime. After applying toner, moisturize your face, neck, hands and feet thoroughly.

2. Apply oil to your skin

Before you go out to enjoy the festivities, oil your skin and hair thoroughly. Coconut and almond oils form a protective layer and act as a barrier. This ensures that the harmful chemicals of synthetic colors do not enter the skin. This not only protects but also makes it easier to wash the colors out of the hair later.

3. Apply sunscreen in good quantity

It is important to apply sunscreen on normal days, but it becomes even more important on Holi. Since Holi is played outside, it is important to apply waterproof sunscreen with high SPF. Sunscreen works by creating a protective layer between the skin and the sun. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen provides additional protection from UVA and UVB rays. If your skin is sensitive and prone to allergic reactions, choose an SPF higher than 30 or 40. Take a generous amount of sunscreen on two fingers and apply it on the exposed area. Apply it every two hours.

4. Nail Care

Take care of your skin and hair, but don’t forget your nails. Water and synthetic colors can also cause nails to become weak and frizzy. Water mixed with colors can become a breeding ground for bacteria. This can lead to fungal or bacterial infection, which causes discoloration, swelling, or pain around the nails. Before you dive into Holi celebrations, apply a thick layer of oil to your nails and cuticles. This will form a protective barrier. Apart from this, apply a coat of transparent or colorful nail polish.

5. Wear full sleeve clothes

Wearing protective clothing during Holi can help protect the skin and hair from possible reactions to synthetic colors. Wearing a hat or scarf can help protect your hair from the colors. Choose light and breathable fabrics like cotton. Choose clothes that cover most of your body. This will help prevent any color from sticking to your skin through the clothes.

After Holi Care

1. Start with light cleaning

First sweep away the dried colors. Do not rub the skin vigorously. Cleanse your skin gently. Use a mild herbal cleanser or a homemade pack of gram flour, milk and turmeric to gently remove the color. Rubbing too hard can cause irritation and further damage to the skin.

2. Moisturize your skin

Skin needs extra care and nourishment to recover from exposure to colors, sunlight, and water. The cleansing process can often strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. Applying adequate amount of natural moisturizer or almond oil after cleansing can soothe the skin and also help in replenishing its lost moisture.

3. Rehydrate the skin

After the colorful celebrations of Holi, the skin can become dry, irritated or inflamed due to synthetic colors. To avoid this, applying a homemade mask of aloe vera gel or curd and honey is a great way to revive and soothe the skin. After cleaning your skin thoroughly, pat it dry. Apply adequate amount of aloe vera gel directly on your face and body. Leave it on your skin for at least 15-20 minutes before washing off. Apart from this, you can also add 2 tablespoons of plain, unsweetened curd and 1 tablespoon of raw honey to make a paste. Apply it on your face, hands and neck. Leave it for 20 minutes and then wash with lukewarm water.

4. Hair mask for damaged hair

There is a lot of stress on the hair during Holi. To wash off dry colors, first wash your hair with water. Then, use a mild herbal shampoo followed by conditioner. After washing, apply a hair mask made of egg, curd or amla powder to nourish the hair.

5. Avoid makeup and hair styling

After playing Holi, avoid makeup and hair styling for a few days. The skin becomes weak due to the coloring and subsequent cleaning process. In such a situation, makeup products can cause more harm to the skin. Similarly, hair styling tools can cause breakage to already weak hair. Give your skin and hair a break from makeup and styling so they can breathe and recover from any potential damage. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Staying outside for a long time can cause dehydration. Keep your body and skin hydrated.
