Because due to Holi, March 25, 2024 has been declared as dry day in many states including Uttar Pradesh. The government of many states of the country has declared March 25 as dry day. No liquor shop is open on dry day. Moreover, if a person does not follow the government rules and is caught buying or selling liquor in black, then the police can take action against him. Not only this, the Excise Department will keep an eye on all the liquor shops and contracts on this day.

On the day of Holi, dry day has been declared in many states including the capital Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir. All government liquor shops will remain locked on Dry Day. If found selling or buying liquor illegally on Dry Day, action will be taken as per rules.

Maharashtra

On the day of Holi, dry day has been declared in some states. In some states, governments have given permission to open liquor shops. The Maharashtra government has allowed liquor shops to remain open till 12 midnight on the day of Holi.

Let us tell you that if any person is caught drinking and driving on the day of Holi or any other day, then action will be taken under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988. If a person is caught and if more than 30 mg of alcohol is found in 100 ml of blood, then under the law the culprit can be fined, jailed or both. If caught driving under the influence of alcohol for the first time, a fine of up to Rs 10,000 and a jail term of up to 6 months or both can be imposed. If caught for the second time, there can be a fine of Rs 15,000 and a jail sentence of up to 2 years. After this, i.e. if caught for the third time, the driving license of the culprit can be cancelled.
