Holi 2024: Holi has come and we all got colored in its colors. The arrival of spring season with Phalguni breeze is filling the mind with new enthusiasm. The colorful trees, fruits, flowers etc. of the fields and barns are inviting the whirlwinds towards themselves. The weather is changing and the fun of Holi has spread to everyone.
Whenever the occasion of Holi comes, the image of Radha-Krishna comes before our eyes. It has become a perception that this festival is given by this couple. In many ways this is also correct. But there are some people who are not natural believers. Many people ask for proof that in any scripture, give an example of Radha-Krishna showering colors on each other on Holi.
According to Garga Samhita Madhurya Khand Chapter Number 12, once upon a time, seeing Lord Krishna coming on the Holika festival, all those Vrajgopikas said to Manini Shriradha.
Gopis said- Rambhoru! Chandravadne! Madhu Manini! Mistress! Lalne! Shree Radhe! Listen to this beautiful thing of ours. There is a verse :-

बालार्कमौलिविमलंग्दहारमुद्यद्विद्युत्क्षिपन्मकरकुंडलमद्धानः
Pitambaren Jayati Dyutimandalo’sau Bhumandale sa Dhanushev Ghano Divistha. अबीरकुंकुमरसैस्च विलिप्तदेहो हस्ते ग्रहीतनवसेचनायंत्र आरात. Prakshanstavashu sakhi vatmativ radhe tvdrasrangaraskeliratah situated: sah ll. (Garga Samhita, Madhurya section 12.8-10)
Meaning- Her playful eyes are roaming around, intoxicated with the intoxication of graceful youth. The curly blue Alkavali is kissing his shoulders and forehead. The yellow colored silk robe is spreading its dense beauty on the body. They are attracting everyone’s attention with the sound of the ringing trumpets. On her head is a crown as radiant as that of a childlike goddess. His entire body is smeared with the juice of Abeer and Saffron. He has a new Pichkari in his hand and that Shyamsundar, who was engaged in the romantic game of Rasarang with you, is standing nearby, waiting for your quick exit. You too leave your honor and go out on the pretext of Fagua (Holi).
Certainly, today Holika should be celebrated and one should immediately store water mixed with colors and sandalwood nectar (perfume etc.) in large quantities in one’s house. Get up and suddenly go with your group of friends to the place where that Shyamsundar is also present. There will never be a time like this again. One should wash hands in a flowing stream – this saying is known everywhere.
Shri Naradji says that then Manvati Radha got up leaving her respect and went out to celebrate Holi surrounded by a group of friends. Those numerous Vrajagannas walked together carrying buckets filled with the mixture of sandalwood, agar, musk, turmeric and saffron. Those Gopanganas had very beautiful hands, hands painted red, yellow clothes of spring color, feet adorned with ringing anklets and waist decorated with a tinkling girdle. She was singing Holi songs adorned with humorous abuses. Taking the powder of Abeer and Gulal in their fists and throwing it here and there, those Brajanganas used to turn the land, sky and clothes red. Millions of Abir’s fists flew simultaneously. Powder of fragrant gulal was also scattered from millions of hearts.
At the same time, the Vrajgopis surrounded Shri Krishna from all sides, as if the clouds had been blocked from all sides by the garlands of lightning in the evening of Sawan. As many Gopis were there, Lord Krishna also started playing Holi with them in the same form. Shri Radha applied kajal in Shri Krishna’s eyes. Shri Krishna also gifted his new Uttariya (scarf) to the Gopis. Then he returned to Parmeshwar Shrinand Bhavan. At that time all the gods started showering flowers on him.
Apart from this, I would like to draw everyone’s attention to one more thing that Holi does not mean that you should enjoy cannabis and liquor or any such thing is mentioned in the weapons. It is clear from the above example that there is no mention of consuming any kind of intoxicant during Holi. Then where did this bad practice come from? Holi is a festival of joy and should be celebrated as such. In Lokachar, people sometimes apply color with a water spray or apply Gulal Abir on each other’s face. At some places Phag is sung and at other places feet start dancing to the beat of Dholak. This is the present form of Holi.
