The pitchers have always been an essential part of the celebration of Holi. Evidence has not been found when their use started, but they were especially made to use in Holi.

In the olden days, the pitchers were made using natural items like bamboo or animal horn. There was a small bulb in it, which was sprayed by pressing.

In the earlier times, the aromatic water of flowers, turmeric, palash flowers in water was poured on each other, which was not only aromatic, but also very good for disinfectant and skin.

When there was no atomizer, at that time there was color in the courtyard of the house, and everyone used to play Holi with each other by taking color from here. For this, the utensils present in the house like bucket or lotta were used.

According to a popular story, the tradition of using the atomizer is associated with Lord Krishna, who used Pichkari to play color during Holi.

The Mughal emperor also used to live in Holi. He used to wait eagerly for this festival and used to collect things like squirrels to play color.

It is also said that in Treta and Dwapar Yuga people used to play colors with gold and silver pitchers. At the same time, King-Maharaja also used to play Holi with atomizer.
