How are votes counted know the complete process of counting Haryana and Jammu Kashmir Assembly Election

Assembly elections of Haryana and Jammu Kashmir have been completed. The election results of these two states will be in front of us on 8th October i.e. tomorrow. Only tomorrow we will know which parties will form the government in these two states. Well, today in this news we will not talk about whose government is being formed in these states. Rather, we will tell you how the votes are counted.

what happens after voting

On election day, after voters have cast their votes at the voting booths, all the ballot papers are collected and safely transported from the different polling stations to the election offices. Here, they are kept under tight security till the day of counting of votes.

How is counting done?

Special centers are created for counting of votes which are determined by the Election Commission. On the day of counting, all the necessary equipment and staff are present here to count the votes. Apart from this, security forces are also deployed on the day of counting, so that there are no disturbances. When counting of votes starts, EVMs and VVPATs are checked first. So that it can be known that their condition is correct.

These are also things to pay attention to

There are many counting tables installed at the place where votes are counted. Votes are counted for different candidates on different tables. There is a special team for counting the votes, which includes Election Commission officials and other employees. The job of this team is to ensure that there is no mistake of any kind in the counting of votes.

What happens to NOTA votes?

Apart from candidates, there is also an option of NOTA votes in EVM machines. That means the voter would have the option to choose ‘none of the above’ (NOTA). However, NOTA votes have no role in the victory or defeat of any candidate. Even if 50 percent NOTA votes are cast during voting in an Assembly or Lok Sabha, the election is not cancelled. That is, NOTA votes only show that the people of any assembly or Lok Sabha constituency are not happy with the candidates contesting their elections.
