According to experts, CPR should be started within 5 minutes after a heart attack. Through this, oxygenated blood i.e. blood carrying oxygen continues to reach the brain cells. Due to this, brain cells do not die and continue to stimulate the heart to return to its normal state. Due to this, the heart pulse which had stopped working starts again.
What to do while giving CPR
CPR is a part of basic life support, with the help of which the heart and lungs are kept completely alive. Safety should be taken care of in this. In case of cardiac arrest, the patient’s response is seen whether he is alive or unconscious. If he does not respond then medical help should be sought immediately. Be sure to check the patient’s pulse rate until he reaches the hospital. Keep checking the pulse (carotid pulse) through the neck also. This pulse has to be checked every 10 seconds. If carotid pulse and breathing are not found then apply chest compression. This is also a part of CPR.

What is the procedure for giving CPR?
1. Make the patient lie down on a hard surface.
2. The patient’s body should be near your knees.
3. The person giving CPR should place both shoulders on the patient’s chest.
4. Press between the two chests of the patient with the palm.
5. Both the hands of the person giving CPR should be straight.
6. Compression i.e. press the chest 100-120 times in 1 minute.
7. After pressing the chest 30 times, breathe through the mouth twice. If you do not want to give mouth breaths, continue chest compressions.
8. Press the chest only 2 to 2.4 inches. This gives him a chance to recall.
How long should CPR be given after a heart attack?
A recent study showed that if CPR is given to someone within 1 minute of a heart attack, the chance of survival is 22%, whereas if CPR is given to someone after 39 minutes, it is only 1%. only occurs. At the American Heart Association Scientific Session 2013, a Japanese researcher told that giving CPR to a patient within 30 minutes is good for his brain function.
