Which is given to all the MLAs of the state according to the rules. However, apart from this, the government also has the right to give budget for different development works. But the MLA fund is the same for all the MLAs, which the MLAs use for different works.
How much money is there in the MLA fund?
After the formation of the government, the government gives MLA fund to every MLA for one year as per the rules. The government can give this MLA fund at once or in installments. Let us tell you that in all the states, MLAs are given separate MLA funds for development works. For example, last year, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi increased the MLA fund from four crores to seven crores. However, many party MLAs had demanded the government to increase it to 10 crores.
According to the information, after the budget for the financial year 2022-23 was passed in Uttar Pradesh, CM yogi adityanath had announced in the House to give MLA fund of Rs 5 crore. However, the CM’s announcement was made after the budget was passed, so this announcement could not be implemented. They got only Rs 3 crore this financial year, as they used to get earlier. But when the budget was passed for the year 2023-24, a budget provision of Rs 2520.00 crore was made for MLA fund. That is, each MLA will get Rs 5 crore for development works.
Separate MLA fund in every state
Let us tell you that after the formation of the government, the budget is passed in the assembly, after which the Chief Minister of the state announces the MLA fund. In all the states of the country, the Chief Minister announces MLA fund for all the MLAs in view of the revenue fund and development works. According to the information, in most of the states, the MLA fund is more than 2 crores for each MLA. Which they use for different development works. However, the MLA can appeal to the government to ask for budget for any development work in the area.
