The dangerous monkeypox virus that causes breathing problems in Africa has now reached Pakistan, which has increased India’s concern. Surveillance has been increased on the border. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox a health emergency for the entire world.
So far, a total of 20 thousand cases have been found worldwide, out of which 537 people have died. In such a situation, the question arises whether there is a need to fear monkeypox, is there a high risk of death from this disease. Know the answer here…
The ampox virus usually spreads through rodents (rats), squirrels and male monkeys. After humans get this disease, symptoms similar to smallpox are seen. In this, blisters or blisters appear on the body. These blisters or blisters fill with pus, which gradually dry up and heal. During this, problems like fever, stiffness and unbearable pain occur.
Three cases of monkeypox have been found in Pakistan. All three cases have been found in people coming from foreign countries. However, it is not known which variant is present in them. A large number of people come to India from countries like Africa and Saudi Arabia, so there is a risk of monkeypox spreading here too. This virus has spread in India even in 2022.
Experts say that the speed of spread of monkeypox is very slow. It is not as contagious as corona. The mortality rate due to this is much lower than that of corona. Therefore, there is no need to be too afraid of this disease but one should be cautious.
There is no vaccine yet to deal with this virus. People recover when the immune system improves. The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved JYNNEOS for the treatment of monkeypox. If it is given to the patient within four days of getting monkeypox, the risk of infection can be reduced. This can reduce the risk of this virus in the next 14 days.
