UPSC Success Story: Can you imagine that a boy who did not get a peon job after passing 10th can become an IAS officer? but it’s true. This was shown by Maniram Sharma of Rajasthan. He became IAS in 2009 after passing the UPSC exam. Maniram, a resident of Bandangarhi village in Alwar district of Rajasthan, could not hear with his ears, he had deafness. When there was no school in the village, the laborer’s father’s son Maniram used to walk 5 kilometers daily to go to school.

After he passed class X, his father took him for a job. There he asked for a peon job for Maniram. Then he was told ‘can’t hear this. They will neither hear the bell nor anyone’s voice. How can he become a peon? Then Maniram assured his father that one day he would become a big officer. He did what he decided to do.

He passed the clerk’s exam in the state. Then he completed his further studies from the college of Alwar while teaching tuition to the children. After passing the clerk’s exam in the state, he also got a PhD scholarship and then decided to become an IAS.

IAS made in 2009

Maniram passed the UPSC exam in 2005. Due to deafness, he could not get a job. Passed the exam again in 2006. Then he got the job of Post and Telegraph Accounts. After this he got the ear operated. After which he started listening. In 2009, he again passed the UPSC exam and became an IAS.
