ICC on WC 2023: After the India-Pak match in the World Cup 2023, Pakistani team director Mickey Arthur had given a controversial statement. He had said that this is not a World Cup but a BCCI event. Arthur had said this big thing regarding the problems Pakistani cricket fans are facing in getting Indian visas and things like Pakistani music not being played during the matches. Now ICC’s reply has come on this.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay has said on this, ‘Whenever we have any event, there are criticisms from different places. It is common. We can just try to improve some of our things. This event has just started. Let’s see how the entire tournament goes. After this we will review what changes can be made and what can be improved.
Barclay further said, ‘We will see how the World Cup events can be improved. Right now we are seeing it as it is being played. We will see everything till the end of this tournament. At the moment, I am satisfied with the way this World Cup is progressing.
What did Mickey Arthur say?
After losing the match to India, Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur had said, ‘It does not look like an ICC event, it looks like a bilateral series, like a BCCI event. We are very sad that our supporters are not here. He would definitely have liked to come here. I think Indian cricket fans would also be happy to see our supporters here. There were other things unusual for us here. Pakistani music was not played today. It didn’t look like a World Cup match at all. To be honest, we were not expecting anything more than this. We love this opportunity of the World Cup but we are disappointed because we are not able to do justice to this opportunity and neither are we able to do justice to our cricket fans.
