According to the ‘Indian Council of Medical Research’, about 200 million people in India are suffering from hypertension or high blood pressure. According to the ICMR report, only 2 crore of these people have their blood pressure under control. According to the news published in the ‘Indian Express’, Dr. Rajiv Gupta, Director of Internal Medicine at CK Birla Hospital in Delhi, said that there are many factors behind this dangerous disease.
Unhealthy Lifestyle
Poor diet, high intake of salt and fat leads to unhealthy and sleep-disturbed lifestyle and high BP.
Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome
These conditions often go hand in hand with high blood pressure, which further increases the risk.
Genetic disease
Due to bad lifestyle there is a risk of many genetic diseases.
An ageing population
As life expectancy in India increases, the number of people suffering from high blood pressure naturally increases.
The number of high BP patients is increasing day by day
The number of individuals suffering from hypertension is alarming as it signals a significant public health crisis. According to Dr Gupta, hypertension is a major risk factor for life-threatening conditions such as stroke, heart failure and peripheral artery disease.
According to the ICMR report, the problem of high BP remains a serious problem for India. The number of people suffering from this disease is increasing day by day. The initial symptoms of high BP are not very special. This is the reason why it is called a silent killer. In the beginning, this disease cannot be detected until it takes a serious form. High blood pressure can cause serious problems like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and vision loss.
