Meera said this about Irrfan Khan
During the Ideas of India Summit 2023, filmmaker Mira Nair was asked a question about starting her film journey. About which Meera Nair spoke openly. Meera Nair told that- ‘I got the inspiration to become a filmmaker at a very young age. Starting my career in theatre, I proved my filmmaking skills through my first documentary in 1988, Salaam Bombay, people liked that film a lot. After that my courage and passion kept on increasing.
Along with doing theater at the National School of Drama, I saw Irrfan Khan at the age of 18, after talking to him it felt like where does a black artist start. I did many films with him, especially in The Namesake, the way Irrfan played the role was commendable. Seeing and feeling the issues of the outside world is the greatest art of filmmaking.

Gave chance to new artists
Continuing his point further, Mira Nair told- ‘It is not that I have always worked with artists with experience. I gave a chance to new film actors in the film Monsoon Wedding.
