CAA: Indian Citizenship in India on 11 December 2019 The amendment law was passed. After about 3 years, this law was implemented in India on 11 March 2024. The Citizenship Amendment Act adds something important to the citizenship of India. Which has simplified the process of granting citizenship in India to the minorities of three neighboring countries of India.
Under this law, there is a provision to give Indian citizenship without any document to people belonging to Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh and Christian religions of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan who came to India before 31 December 2014. But if the minorities of all these countries are given Indian citizenship, then how much will the population of India increase? Let us know how many minorities are there in these countries and if their population is added to India, what will be the total population of India.
There are so many minorities in these countries
If we talk about minorities in Pakistan, then a total of 22,10,566 Hindus live in Pakistan. There live 18,73,348 people of Christian religion. 74,130 people of Sikh religion live here. So there remain 6 people who believe in Jainism. If we add this number in total then it is 41,58,040.
If we talk about the minorities of Bangladesh. When Bangladesh became a separate country in the year 1971, there was 33% Hindu population in Bangladesh. Which has now reduced to about 8%. That means one crore Hindu minorities live in Bangladesh.
If we talk about Afghanistan, there are not many minority people living in Afghanistan. According to an estimate, about thousand Hindu minorities live in Afghanistan. So about 200 people of Sikh religion live in Afghanistan. If the minorities of these three countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are included then it would be 1,41,59,240.
India’s population will become this much
On 11 March 2024 by the Government of India CAA has been implemented across the country. After this, before December 31, 2014, minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, including people of Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh and Christian religions, came and lived in India. They will get Indian citizenship without any document. Apart from this, if the Indian government gives Indian citizenship to all the minorities of these three countries, then the population of India will increase by crores.
As we mentioned above by adding the population of these three countries. If the population of minorities living in these three countries is combined then it is 1,41,59,240. If we look at the total population of India at present, it is 1,437,768,424, in which if we add this population then it will become 1,449,927,664.
