University Grants Commission: After the implementation of NEP 2020, there is a continuous change in the field of education. Regarding higher education, new rules have been made for foreign universities by the University Grants Commission. Regarding which UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has said that foreign universities desirous of setting up campus in India will need approval from UGC.
Professor Mamidla Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) interacted with the media today. In which he said that foreign institutions will conduct their work according to the guidelines made by the commission and according to Indian laws. They will have to maintain annual reports and accounts as per the rules and regulations here. Foreign universities setting up campuses in India will have the freedom to design their own admission process. In addition, foreign universities will need to ensure that the quality of education imparted at their Indian campuses is at par with that of their main campus.

Offline programs will be able to offer
The UGC chairman further said that foreign universities starting campuses in India will be able to run full time programs only in offline mode. Universities cannot offer online and distance programs. The UGC chairman said that opening of campuses of foreign universities in the country will see a change in the nature of higher education. Due to which the students will get benefit. He informed that the draft guidelines prepared for opening foreign university campuses in India will be released today on the official website of UGC.
