5,28,830 defaulters in eight power distribution divisions of Bareilly district were listed when OTS was implemented on November 8. In this, 1,36,082 consumers deposited their outstanding bills. Currently 3,92,748 consumers are defaulters. If they do not pay the bills, their connections will be disconnected after January 1st.

In Pilibhit, Badaun, Shahjahanpur and Bareilly districts of the division, 14,84,518 defaulters were in the OTS category. Of these, only 3,39,555 consumers paid the dues. Currently 11,44,963 consumers remain as defaulters.

Bareilly Zone I Chief Engineer Ranvijay Singh said that there are preparations to disconnect the connections of consumers who have not registered under OTS and have not deposited the outstanding bills.

Chief Engineer of Zone Two, Anil Tiwari said that if the defaulters had paid 30 percent of the total dues and registered in OTS, they would have got time to pay the remaining dues, but many defaulters did not do so. If any defaulter registers from 29th to 31st December, then exemption will be given and installments will be made to pay the dues.
