If you do not get a reply from RTI within 30 days, or the RTI portal is not working, then first of all you can lodge a complaint on the RTI mail, if no reply comes from there also, then you will have to apply for the first appeal. For this you will have to pay an application fee of Rs 50. What to do if the first appeal does not work
First appeal is made because when the Public Information Officer does not reply to the applicant within 30 days of receiving the application or gives a vague reply or gives wrong information or misleading information or does not give any reply, then the applicant has the option of first appeal. In case of any dissatisfaction with the Public Information Officer, the applicant can appeal to the First Appellate Officer.
