Sow mustard with sugarcane

April-May is the time for sowing sugarcane crop. During this period, summer sugarcane is sown. But mustard is not cultivated with summer sugarcane. For this one has to wait for autumn sowing. Sowing of autumn sugarcane can be started from the month of October.

To grow mustard crop along with sugarcane, some things have to be kept in mind. During sowing, it is advised to use 75 kg nitrogen, 110 kg phosphorus, 50 kg potassium, 30 kg granular sulfur and 8 kg ferrous sulphate per hectare.

Mustard will also have double benefits

While cultivating sugarcane in autumn, a distance of 3 to 4 feet should be maintained between each line. The empty space left between these lines. Mustard is sown in it. By adopting this intercropping method, farmers can get the yield of 1400 quintals to 1800 quintals of sugarcane and 15 quintals to 20 quintals of mustard in one hectare. Due to which they may see a tremendous increase in their earnings.

Summer sowing is done from February to March. So spring sowing is done from April to May. Whereas autumn sowing is done in October-November. After sowing, the sugarcane crop takes 10-14 months to be ready.

Let us tell you that sowing of sugarcane crop during spring and summer gives less yield than sowing during autumn. The yield of autumn sugarcane is 25-30 percent more than that of spring and 30-40 percent more than that of summer sugarcane.
