Ingredients to make Dal Vada
Chana Dal – 1 cup
Onion chopped – 1/2 cup
Curry leaves – 1 tbsp
Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 2 pinches
Green coriander chopped – 2-3 tbsp
Oil – for frying
salt – as per taste

How to make Dal Vada
To make delicious Dal Vada, first clean the Chana Dal, wash it and soak it in water for 2 hours. After the fixed time, put the dal in a strainer and drain the water and leave it like this for some time so that the extra water of the dal gets drained out. Now take out one fourth part of chana dal and keep it separately in a bowl. After this, grind the remaining chana dal coarsely with the help of a mixer without adding water.

Now take out the chana dal paste in a big bowl. Add turmeric, red chili powder and asafoetida to it along with the Chana Dal kept separately and mix well. Then add finely chopped onion, ginger paste, chopped curry leaves, green coriander and salt as per taste to this mixture and mix well. After the mixture is ready, prepare dal vadas by taking little by little in hands and keep them separately in a plate.

After making dal vadas from all the mixture, put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add dal vadas and deep fry them according to the capacity of the pan. Roast them from side to side till the dal vada becomes crispy and golden from both the sides. After this, take out the fried dal vada in a plate. Similarly fry all the dal vadas. Serve ready dal vada with green chutney or tomato sauce for snacks.
