Recently, a news from China shocked everyone. Actually, a Chinese woman had transferred her property worth Rs 23 crore to her pet cats and dogs. Now in such a situation, people are questioning on social media whether it is legally possible to do this in India too. Let us tell you about it in detail.
Can this be done in India?
In India, it is not possible for a person to legally name his property in the name of his pet. This is because in Indian law, animals are not considered legal personality. In simple words, pets are not considered a legal entity that can receive or take care of property in its name. However, there are some ways through which you can legally use your property for the welfare of your pets.
This can happen through these ways
In India, you may not be able to name your pets after your property, but you can definitely use your property indirectly for their care and well-being. For this, you will have to resort to some legal structures. Especially the Indian Succession Act, 1925. There is a provision for a will under this. Apart from this, you can also use the Indian Trusts Act, 1882 for this.
