The victim’s family had said this at the time of hanging…

Ahmed was earlier hanged on April 27 in Gelles Hessel Jail. This prison is located in Karaj outside Tehran. Ahmed was to be hanged, but after the first 28 seconds, he was brought down. Iran Human Rights says that while hanging, the victim’s family suddenly said ‘Forgive’, due to which the hanging was stopped and Ahmed was still breathing.

What can the victim’s family do under Sharia law

Sharia law prevails in Iran and under this, the victim’s family can either forgive the criminal or demand money in return for sparing his life. However, the rights activist said that there are many such cases in which the family of the convict is not able to pay this amount and does not stop the hanging.

He was hanged for the second time today

Ahmed was hanged again on the morning of 13 November. Mohammad Amiri Meghaddam, director of Iran Human Rights, criticized the Iranian regime, saying that Ahmed was a brilliant student who was hanged for the second time on charges of murder. Human Rights denied this and claimed that he was forced to confess to the crime by torture.

The number of death sentences is increasing

According to Iran Human Rights, death penalty is being used as a form of fear to suppress opposition to the government in Iran. According to IHR, the number of death sentences is increasing in the year 2024 and in the last month i.e. October alone, at least 166 people have been sentenced to death.
