Security agencies are on high alert in the capital Delhi in view of Independence Day. Commando squads have taken charge of security at more than a dozen places. Delhi Police and paramilitary force personnel have completely turned the capital into a fortress.
The security system of Delhi has become impenetrable from land, water and sky. Special Parakram vehicles equipped with commando squads have also been deployed on the roads of Delhi. NSG and paramilitary forces have been deployed around the main venue of the ceremony, Red Fort.
Today from 7 to 10 am, Delhi Police and Paramilitary Force personnel took stock of the security by boating in the Yamuna river. Behind the Red Fort, the personnel are sitting in a boat and keeping a close watch on every activity with binoculars.
NSG, SPG, NIA have further strengthened security from land, water and sky. Especially considering the threat of aerial attack, drones, gliders, battery operated aircrafts, para jumping flights, hot air balloons have been banned.
Kite flying has also been prohibited around the Red Fort. Scaffolding has been erected at various places and snipers have been deployed around tall buildings. Entry for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort will be available with a pass.
Suspects are also being monitored at airports, railway-metro stations and bus stands. Security has been further strengthened in the entire city. 800 CCTV cameras equipped with AI and face recognition systems have been installed to identify suspects.
3,000 traffic police and 10,000 Delhi Police personnel have been deployed to deal with emergencies on Independence Day.
Delhi Police has advised people to travel by public transport i.e. bus-metro to avoid traffic jam and reach the venue.
