India AI Mission: 10,000 GPUs will be made in 18 to 24 months


India AI Mission: The Government of India has approved investing Rs 10,300 crore for the India AI Mission a few days ago. Under this mission, it will help in taking forward all the projects related to AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence. Now according to the latest news, a top government official has said that hundreds of graphics processing units i.e. GPUs will be made in the next 18 to 24 months.

What did the government official say?

According to the report of Economic Times, a top official of the Government of India said that under the IndianAI mission, approved graphics processing units will be made available in the next 18-24 months. Speaking on the sidelines of Tie-Con Delhi-NCR, Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan said, “The government will invite bids from industry under the India AI Mission and provide feasibility gap funding for GPU-based computing infrastructure. Krishnan Said, “The entire GPU approved under this mission will be made available in the next 18-24 months.”

The Cabinet has started India AI Mission to develop AI technology in the country and encourage people for it. Under this mission, the government has approved to invest more than Rs 10,300 crore for the next five years. Under this grand mission, supercomputing capacity of more than 10,000 GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) will be made available to different stakeholders to create an AI ecosystem.

Demand for GPU is increasing rapidly

Let us tell you that in today’s modern technology, the demand for servers based on GPU has increased, because they can process data at a faster speed than CPU based servers. The demand for GPU will increase rapidly in the coming time, hence the government is also preparing for this fast future technology, and the government intends to make 10,000 GPU units in the next 2 years.
