India is keeping a close eye on the increasing activities of China and Pakistan in the Indian Ocean. To give a crushing defeat to both the countries underwater, the Indian Army is going to test 500 km range Submarine-Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM). India is increasing its strength to defeat the plans of China and Pakistan in the air and land as well as in the sea. Under this, the Indian Army is preparing its rocket force like the PLARF of the China People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and SLCM missile is also a part of it.
On February 16, the Indian Navy had announced that it would soon test a submarine-launched cruise missile with a 500 km range. The missile was tested a year ago in February itself, when it had achieved a range of 402 km. These missiles will be deployed on submarines under Project 75I.
Five cities of China may be destroyed
According to the Eurasian Times report, the SLCM’s 500 km range missile is to be tested and it had achieved a range of 402 km in the first test. However, the Indian Army plans to increase its range to 800 km. In this way this missile will be able to attack five cities of China. These include Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wenzhou, Fuzhou and Xiomen. There are two variants of SLCM. There are Land Attack Cruise Missiles (LACM) for attacking land and Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles (ASCM) for targeting naval ships.
What is China’s PLARF?
The Chinese military has the PLA Rocket Force (PLARF), which controls Beijing’s arsenal of land ballistic missiles. PLARF has 40 brigades. On the other hand, India is also building a similar rocket force. The plan to create a rocket force was given by former Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat. Under this, short and medium range ballistic missiles are being included. Besides, long range land attack cruise missile is also being prepared. This will be a 1500 km range missile. Country’s companies Larsen & Turbo, Godrej, Sameer and Defense Research and Development Organization have partnered for this.
Pakistan tested Babar II
Pakistan tested Babur III submarine launched missile in the Indian Ocean in 2017. This is a 450 kilometer range missile. It can carry weapons weighing 450 kg. Whereas, if we talk about China, it has 8 ballistic missile submarines, 13 nuclear attack submarines and 55 diesel-electric submarines. India’s submarine capability is much less than this. The Chinese Navy is not only moving towards adding submarines to its fleet, but is also equipping Pakistan with state-of-the-art technology.
