India successfully test fires 3 short-range air defense missiles at Pokhran

Indian Army: India conducted three successful tests of small-sized Very Short Range Air Defense Missile System (VSHORADS) made of fourth generation advanced technology at Pokhran Firing Range in Rajasthan.

The Defense Ministry said the tests were conducted on October 3 and 4 against high-speed targets, including approach, retreat and crossing modes. The Defense Ministry said that the successful tests have shown the way for “short time testing and short time production” in line with the government’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

VSHORADS is equipped with fourth generation modern technology

The ministry said, “Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully conducted three flight trials of VSHORADS (Very Short Range Air Defense System) equipped with fourth generation technology at Pokhran Field Firing Range.” “The development work of VSHORADS missiles has been completed and the two manufacturing agencies have been engaged in Development and Producer Partner (DCPP) mode,” the statement said.

Defense Minister congratulated the Indian Army

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday congratulated the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Army for the successful testing of the missile system. He said that this new missile equipped with modern technology will make the armed forces technically more efficient against aerial threats.

VSHORADS is a man-portable air defense system indigenously designed and developed by Research Center Imarat (RCI) in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The Defense Ministry has said in a release that the missile includes many new technologies including Feedback Control System (RCS) and integrated avionics and its accurate striking capability has been proven during the trials.
