Indian Automobile Industry: Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari has recently said that, India will be the world’s number one automobile production hub and third largest economy by 2029. Because going forward, the government’s focus will be on creating a world class road network and moving towards alternative fuels as well as reducing the logistics cost in the country.

Talking about the potential of the auto industry, Gadkari said, along with all the products, major manufacturers are also present in the country. This sector will give majority strength to the Indian economy, we will be a self-reliant India and we will be the third largest industry.

He said that his focus will be on improving the quality of Indian roads as well as switching to alternative fuels to bring down logistics costs in the country to single digits. Apart from this, he said that by the end of 2024, the country’s national highway network will reach equal to America’s road network.

Talking about the ongoing works for infrastructure development, Gadkari said that his ministry is building 36 expressways, which will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun by two hours, between Delhi and Jaipur by two hours, Delhi to Mumbai by two hours. 12 hours, the travel time between Chennai and Bengaluru will also reduce to two hours and the journey from Bengaluru to Mysore can be completed in just one hour. Whereas the distance between Delhi and Chennai will be reduced by 320 km. He said that the National Highway Authority of India has a AAA rating and there is no shortage of funds.

Apart from this, he said that the government is working on a project in Panipat in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation. Where work is being done to produce 100,000 liters of ethanol, 150 tonnes of bio-bitumen and 76,000 tonnes of bio-aviation fuel every day from rice straw.

According to Gadkari, due to change in fuel and building good roads, our logistics cost will be in single digits (about 9%) by the end of 2024. Due to which our exports will increase at least one and a half times. Which will be the most important thing for me.
