Fake Sim Cards: The government has taken major action against Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL SIM card users. The government has blocked about 1.7 crore SIM cards of all these telecom operators. These SIM cards were issued through fake Aadhaar cards and other documents. The government is closing those SIM cards which were issued by giving fake documents. In such a situation, you should know that your SIM card should not be issued on someone else’s document. If this happens then your SIM card may also get blocked. The government is continuously banning such fake SIM cards so that spam calls can be stopped.
SIMs blocked with the help of AI
1.77 crore mobile connections purchased with fake or forged documents have been blocked with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool. Additionally, four telecom service operators (TSPs) working with the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) have blocked 45 lakh fake international calls from reaching the telecom network.
11 lakh accounts were frozen
Here, the Ministry of Communications said in a statement that about 11 lakh accounts have been frozen by banks and payment wallets. The government says that more SIM cards will be blocked in the coming days.
