Nurse Nimisha Priya : Preparations are underway to release Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who is imprisoned in Yemen. For this, the Indian government has approved money transfer regarding the release. An amount of $ 40,000 will be sent to the concerned persons through the Indian Embassy. Priya, a resident of Palakkad, Kerala, was found guilty of murdering a Yemeni citizen in 2017. She was caught while trying to flee the country. She was later sentenced to death. Now in Nimisha Priya’s case, the death penalty can be avoided by paying blood money. Nimisha, from Palakkad district of Kerala, went to Yemen with her family in 2012 after studying nursing. There she thought of opening a hospital, but according to the rules, only a local citizen can do so. According to media reports, a young man named Talal Abdo Mahdi helped Nimisha to open the hospital.
Mahdi got fake marriage papers made with Nimisha. The nurse also got a license to run the hospital, but due to the civil war in 2015, Nimisha had to return to India with her family. Later, when the situation improved, Nimisha went to Yemen alone.
Mahdi used to have sexual relations
According to reports, Mahdi, after finding her alone, started pressuring Nimisha to have sex with him. He threatened to shut down the hospital if she did not do so. He also snatched the nurse’s passport. To return home, he made a plan to get the documents and along with a local nurse, gave sleeping injections to Mahdi. He died due to overdose. To escape from all this, Nimisha and the local nurse together cut his body into several pieces and threw it in a water tank. He was arrested while running away from there.
What is blood money, through which Nimisha will be released
After being arrested, Nimisha was presented in the court, where she was sentenced to death in the year 2020. Since then, there was talk of getting her released by paying blood money. Now blood money is going to be transferred in this case. According to Islamic law, the victim or his family can decide what punishment should be given to the criminal. The same rule applies in the case of murder, although in Yemeni law, the guilty of murder gets the death penalty, but the victim’s family also has the right to forgive the murderer by taking money. This is called blood money. Experts of Islam believe that this method not only forgives but also supports the victim.
