Indian Railways refutes rumors about closure of Palakkad divisions trains calls completely baseless


Indian Railways: The Kerala government had reportedly accused the Central government of closing the Palakkad railway division. On which Indian Railway officials completely rejected the speculations about the alleged closure of Palakkad division of Southern Railway. He said the reports were “completely baseless” and there were no plans to close the Palakkad division.

According to media reports, Palakkad Division issued a statement the next day denying these reports, in which the rumor was spread by the Kerala Government that the Central Government was giving step-motherly treatment to the southern states by closing the Palakkad Railway Division.

‘No plan to close Palakkad division’- Railway Manager

In fact, Divisional Railway Manager Arun Kumar Chaturvedi said that the news reports were “completely baseless” and that there were no plans to close the Palakkad division. He said that the claims made in the report are completely baseless and have created unnecessary confusion among the public. During this, Railways expressed concern over the spread of wrong information. Furthermore, he criticized the media for creating unnecessary confusion and anxiety among the public with their reports.

In a statement issued by Indian Railways, it was said that it has come to our notice that these reports are completely imaginary and devoid of any factual basis.

Kerala Railway Minister had written a letter to the Central Government

Let us tell you that recently, Kerala Railway Minister V Abdurahiman had written a letter to the Central Government demanding withdrawal of its decision. In which he wrote that Palakkad division is far ahead in terms of number of passengers and revenue. In such a situation, the decision to close it would be a wrong step against the state. Apart from this, he had said that Kerala is being continuously ignored in the matter of railway development.

The central government was accused of neglecting the southern states.

Kerala Railway Minister said that in the previous UPA government, Palakkad division was separated and Salem division was created. In this way Palakkad division was weakened. During this, the minister claimed that an attempt was also made to make Palakkad division a part of Mangaluru division, but due to opposition from the state government, the central government backed down. He accused the Center of neglecting the doubling of railway tracks in the state and also the allocation of new trains.
