But only in those states where it is allowed. Like dry states which include states like Gujarat, Nagaland, Bihar and Lakshadweep. You cannot carry alcohol here. Because if alcohol is recovered from you while traveling in these states, then you may have to pay a fine and you may also have to go to jail.
How much alcohol can I carry?
As we told you, according to the rules of Indian Railways, you can carry a bottle of liquor with you while traveling in a train. If we talk about its capacity or limit, then you can carry only two liters of liquor with you. And not only this, the 2-liter liquor bottles that you are carrying with you must be sealed. What could be the punishment?
If a person is found travelling in a train with more than the prescribed amount of alcohol, then that person is punished under the Railway Act. Apart from this, if a person is caught drinking alcohol on the platform or is caught carrying a bottle of alcohol in the open, then such a person can be jailed for 6 months and fined up to ₹500 under the Railway Act.
