Recently, in response to an RTI, Railways had said that the blankets given are washed only once a month. In such a situation, people who use these blankets are at risk of many diseases. Now when these blankets will be cleaned in 15 days, the risk of these diseases will also reduce.
Diseases caused by using unwashed blankets
1. Skin allergy
Not washing blankets in trains for several days and using the same blanket by multiple passengers can cause bacteria, viruses or fungus to grow in it. Dirty blankets may also contain dust particles or dust mites, which can cause skin allergies, itching or rashes.
2. Skin infection
If there is moisture in the blankets and it is not dried properly for several days, then the risk of fungus growth increases. This may cause skin infection. The skin may also get damaged.

4. Cold, cough, soreness
If blankets are not washed for a long time and are used by many people, the blankets can become infected with viruses or bacteria, the use of which can cause common cold, cough or sore throat.
5. Danger of viral or flu
If the blanket has been used by a sick person before you, it can spread flu or viral infection. Blankets containing dirt or bacteria can also cause boils.
