Traffic Challan Rules: There are many rules for driving a vehicle on the road, which everyone has to follow. Usually you would have seen many people on the streets arguing with policemen over challan, in such a situation it is important for you to know who can issue your challan and what are your rights during this period.
Show documents without any fear
Whenever you go out on the road with your bike or car, keep all the documents with you, you can also keep the documents in your Digi Locker. If you have all the documents then you do not need to be afraid. Despite this, if the police stops you, then park your vehicle aside and show the documents that are asked for. Even after this, if the police harasses you or tries to forcibly take out the keys of your bike or car, then you can complain to the higher authorities.
Who can make an invoice?
Now if your car is stopped and you are being challaned for something then no constable can do this. Even the head constable cannot issue a challan of more than Rs 100. To issue challan more than this, it is necessary to have an Assistant Sub Inspector i.e. a one star officer or a senior officer present there. Apart from the traffic police, other policemen cannot issue your challan. However, your vehicle can be stopped by a policeman of any rank. If you have not violated any kind of rules then the police cannot bother you.
