This will allow users of the new app to take their accounts and followers with them to other apps that support ActivityPub, including Mastodon. The company believes that this app will be able to give a tough competition to Twitter in the coming times.

According to this report by The Verge, the internal codename of this app is currently Project 92. It is being said that in the coming time its public name can be kept as Threads. According to the report, Meta’s Chief Product Officer Chris Cox has said that the coding of the app has started in January itself. As soon as possible, Meta will introduce this Instagram based app for public use. Cox said that the company’s target for the app is to ensure safety, ease of use, credibility.
