According to snake charmers, to collect 1 liter of snake venom, the venom of about 200 snakes has to be extracted.

Smuggling of snake venom takes place especially on the Bangladesh-Bengal border. According to the information, in the last 10 years, BSF has recovered snake venom worth more than Rs 500 crore. The ‘Siliguri Corridor’ in eastern India remains a hub for smugglers of wildlife-origin commodities and animal body parts.
