Nicholas Pooran’s Reaction: In the match played between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 16, LSG won a thrilling victory by 1 run. Batting first, Lucknow put 176 runs on the board for 8 wickets in 20 overs. On behalf of the team, Nicholas Pooran played an inning of 58 runs in the biggest 30 balls. His innings included 4 fours and 5 sixes. He was awarded the title of ‘Player of the Match’ for this innings.
Due to this innings of Puran, Lucknow was able to score a good score. After becoming the player of the match, Puran told how he wanted to take the innings to the end. After the match, Pooran said, “I knew that I had to take the innings as far as possible. When the spinners were bowling, I knew they would give me the bad ball and it was a short pitch. I have batted well throughout the tournament and I am proud to have played in such conditions. They have invested a huge amount of time in me and these are the ways I can repay them.”
The Lucknow batsman also praised the bowlers of his team. Apart from this, he told that he was confident while batting with Ayush Badoni. Pooran said, “Ayush Badoni and I had a partnership against Chennai as well. I was confident of batting with him at the crease. I think it is impressive that our bowlers are rising to the challenge, they have done that in the last two games. We have a young bowling attack and coming to Eden Gardens and defending a score like this was fantastic.”
Significantly, Lucknow has qualified for the playoffs by winning this match played against KKR. Lucknow became the third team to qualify for the playoffs this season. Earlier Gujarat and Chennai had qualified.
