BCCI has not given central contract to Dhawan for a long time, but he is making full preparations to get in good form before the IPL.
In a recent match, Shikhar Dhawan was seen playing for DY Patil Blue team, in which he played an unbeaten inning of 99 runs. He played 51 balls in this innings, in which he made the opposition team sweat by hitting 8 fours and 6 sixes. Dhawan’s innings played at a strike rate of 194 is telling that this time his bat can rain a lot of runs for Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. Dhawan’s team DY Patil Blue scored 182 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. On the other hand, CAG team achieved this target on the first ball of the 20th over and won by 6 wickets.
How was Shikhar Dhawan’s performance in IPL 2023
Shikhar Dhawan has been playing for Punjab Kings in IPL since 2022 and was also seen captaining the team last season. He played 11 matches for Punjab in IPL 2023 and scored 373 runs at an average of over 41. He also scored 3 fifties last season, but could not take the team to the playoffs under his captaincy. If we look at Dhawan’s entire IPL career, till date he has scored 6,616 runs in 217 matches, which also includes 50 half-centuries and 2 century innings.
