Faf du Plessis’s statement on defeat
After the defeat in the match, RCB captain Faf du Plessis said, “Chennai plays well in the middle overs and creates pressure with spin bowling. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of wickets in the first 6-7 overs, which meant that the next batsmen had to bat in the innings.” There was a need to bring stability. The pitch was very good, but according to me we scored 15-20 runs less. We were constantly trying to stay ahead in the match, but Chennai’s batting strategy was such that they wanted to stay ahead in the match. We tried to take wickets with short balls also, but did not succeed. We failed in the middle overs, but the runs remained short.”
