IPL Auction 2023: In the mini auction for IPL 2023, the franchisees spent a total of Rs 167 crore. A total of 80 players were bought with this amount. The special thing here is that the franchisees spent the most money on all-rounders. About 43% of the total amount spent went to the all-rounders. 19% was spent on bowlers, 22% on batsmen and 16% on wicketkeepers.
All-rounders dominated this auction. Rs 70.95 crore was spent on all-rounders. In this, 8 crores were placed on Indian all-rounders and 62.95 crores on foreign all-rounders. Among foreign all-rounders, England’s Sam Karan (18.5 crores), Australia’s Cameron Green (17.5 crores) and England’s Test captain Ben Stokes (16.25 crores) got record breaking deals.
In this auction, 36.5 crore rupees were spent on the batsmen. Of these, Harry Brook (13.25 crore) and Mayank Agarwal (8.25 crore) were the most expensive. A total of Rs 32.15 crore was spent on the bowlers. Indian bowlers dominated here. Shivam Mavi (6 crore) and Mukesh Kumar (5.50 crore) were sold the most expensive. This time the share of wicketkeepers came to Rs 27.4 crore. Nicholas Pooran (16 crores) and Heinrich Klaasen (5.25 crores) of South Africa were the most expensive in this category.
How many players of which country were sold?
Being an Indian league, most players were sold from India only. A total of 51 players from India were bought. England remained at number two here. 8 players from England were selected for IPL 2023. 5 players were bought from West Indies and 4-4 players from South Africa and Australia. 2-2 players were selected from New Zealand, Bangladesh and 1-1 players from Namibia, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan and Ireland.
