The state government has made DG Law and Order Prashant Kumar the new chief of the state police. He took charge on Wednesday evening. Prashant Kumar has been given this responsibility after the retirement of acting DGP Vijay Kumar on Wednesday. 1990 batch IPS Prashant Kumar has become the acting DGP, superseding 16 officers. He was handling the responsibility of law and order for the last three and a half years. Apart from this, he also has the responsibility of EOW and State SIT. This is the fourth consecutive time that acting DGP has been appointed in UP.
On being made UP DGP, Prashant Kumar met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and expressed his gratitude. During his stay as ADG Zone Meerut, he had encountered many criminals, after which he was made ADG Law and Order.
