Had made up my mind to quit acting
Irrfan Khan started his career in the world of TV after completing his studies from NSD. He proved his acting prowess in shows like ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’, ‘Sparsh’ and ‘Chandrakanta’. After a few years, Irrfan Khan entered Bollywood. In the beginning, only small roles were available in films. Meanwhile, there came a time when Irrfan Khan had decided to quit acting. This disclosure was made by Irrfan Khan himself during an interview.

Changed decision at the request of a close friend
During a conversation with Times of India, Irrfan Khan said, ‘I thought of quitting acting 12 years ago because I was not at all happy with the kind of roles I was getting. I was bored. At that time Tigmanshu Dhulia told me to wait, take the National Award. Tigmanshu Dhulia and Irrfan Khan used to be friends. Hearing this from his friend, Irfan decided to stay for a few more years. Then the actor got a film which brightened his fortunes.

Won the title of National Award
After this, Tigmanshu Dhulia made the film ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, in which he cast Irrfan Khan as the lead actor. This film, released in the year 2013, was highly praised by critics as well as the audience. Irrfan Khan dominated the silver screen as Paan Singh Tomar. He won people’s hearts with his acting in the film. The amazing thing is that he received the National Award for Best Actor for ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. It is noteworthy that Irrfan Khan died on April 29, 2020 due to neuroendocrine cancer.
