Anna cattle collided with Chhapra Mail (11124 Up) on the up track of Kanpur-Jhansi near Erich Road station of Jhansi-Kanpur railway section. The collision was so strong that the cattle jumped and collided with the OHE. Due to this the OHE tripped. Many trains stopped at various places. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at 3.30 pm. A herd of Anna cattle collided with the Chhapra Mail going from Barauni to Gwalior. After the collision, an Anna cattle jumped and collided with the OHE. Due to this, the OHE wire of the up track got broken, while the OHE of the down track got tripped.
After this accident Chhapra Mail came to a standstill. Later, on information, a diesel engine was sent from Jhansi. It was posted in Chhapra Mail. At the same time, special train number 01431 going from Pune to Gorakhpur was stopped at Month station from 3.48 pm to 5.12 pm. Whereas Raptisagar Express going from Gorakhpur to Yesvantpur was stopped at Pirauna station from 3.55 pm. This train was diverted from the down track. After receiving the information, TRD senior section engineer and RPF team from Orai reached the spot. The cattle that had fallen from the track were removed. Jhansi Division PRO Manoj Kumar Singh said that the OHE line had tripped due to the accident. The departmental team reached the spot and repaired the OHE. The track will be restored soon.
