Azamgarh: You must have heard of patients taking a number at a doctor’s clinic, but you would have rarely heard of patients taking a number to eat jalebi. There is a jalebi shop in Azamgarh where one has to take a number to taste the jalebi. Jalebi cannot be obtained here without taking a number. The special thing is that people come from far away places to eat jalebi from this shop and wait for their number.
This small shop located in Manduri market, about 15 km from Azamgarh city, sells only jalebi throughout the day. The owner of this shop, Sunil Seth, who is known as “Jalebi Baba”, is famous for his special jalebi in the entire area. There is a crowd of customers at his shop from morning to evening, and after tasting the jalebi made by his hands, people are forced to come again and again.
30 years journey of Jalebi Baba
Talking to Local 18, Jalebi Baba said that he has been running this shop for the last 30 years. His mind is more focused on worship and devotion, so along with the shop, he also does devotional work. He believes that God has given two hands, so there should be no shame in working hard. He said that this business has become his means of livelihood and he runs his family with it.
Contribution to social work
Jalebi Baba also has two sons who work in gold jewellery. Jalebi Baba said that with the money earned from the shop, he also helps in the marriage of poor girls and other social works.
The shop has become a local landmark
For the last 30 years, this shop is the most famous in the entire area and has become the identity of Manduri market. Although this shop is small in appearance, but the taste of Jalebi and the crowd of customers make it special.
