The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.

BJP’s Devkishore Dasji Swamy defeated Sanjaybhai Solanki of INC by 27,380 votes in Jambusar assembly seat in Bharuch district. BJP candidate got 91,533 votes while Congress got 64,153 votes here. Third number AAP’s Sajid Khan Rehan got 3,418 votes which was just 2.08 per cent of the total votes. The deposits of five including AAP and BTP candidates were forfeited. Whereas, NOTA got 2,273 votes.

Congress got victory in 2017
The Congress had won the Jambusar seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, Congress made Sanjaybhai Solanki its candidate from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Chhatrasinh Mori by just 6,412 votes. A total of ten candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining eight candidates were forfeited. The BJP won from here in 2012 and the Congress in 2007. In 1990, 1995, 1998 and 2002, this seat went to BJP’s account four times in a row. Whereas, in 1967, 1972, 1975, 1980 and 1985, the Congress had won the Jambusar seat for five consecutive times. In the first state election held in 1962, the Jambusar seat went to the Praja Socialist Party.
Talking about the total 14 elections held so far, out of 14, Congress candidates got success from here seven times. At the same time, six times this seat went to the BJP’s account. Whereas, only once the flag of Praja Socialist Party was hoisted from here.
